SPICMACAY Fest 2020

IIT Hyderabad celebrated SPIC MACAY Fest 2020. The event included evening concerts by Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan and Dr. Neena Prasad. Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, a Padma Shri, is an eminent sitar player of the Hindustani tradition, from the Imdadkhani Gharana. Dr. Neena Prasad is a brilliant academic and exponent of Mohiniyattam. Both the artists mesmerized their young attentive student audience who was enthusiastic to learn and appreciate Indian culture. The artists interacted with the students and answered questions regarding the nuances of their art. Since its inception six years ago, the IITH chapter of SPIC MACAY has been actively organizing concerts and performances in the campus, hosting prominent artists such as Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya, Shri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Shri K. Vishwanath among others. Student volunteers act as foot soldiers of the organizing team which is supervised by faculty members. This year, encouraged by their director Prof. B. S. Murthy and faculty coordinators Prof. Rama Krishna Malladi and Prof. Shiva Ji the team successfully planned and celebrated a two-day fest in the Institute.
