Visiting IIT Hyderabad

1. Do I need prior permission to visit IIT Hyderabad?

Yes. All campus visits require prior online registration and approval. Walk-in visits are not permitted. Visitors must register through the Visit IIT Hyderabad webpage and receive a confirmation email before arriving on campus.

2. On which days can I visit IIT Hyderabad?

IIT Hyderabad conducts guided campus visits every Saturday as part of its Open Day program. Special visits on other days are organized only for official, academic, or high-profile delegations with prior approval.

3. What are the available time slots for the campus visit?

There are two types of tour to register. One is Full Day Campus Tour and Another is 2 hours guided tour. The two hours slots are on Saturdays Only as below -

  • 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Each visit lasts 2 hours.

4. Who can visit IIT Hyderabad?

  • School students (Class 8 and above)
  • Junior colleges and degree colleges
  • Engineering and science colleges
  • JEE/NEET aspirants and coaching groups
  • Parents and individual visitors
  • Industry and corporate delegations
  • Academic and research institutions
  • NGOs and innovation teams

5. Is there any age restriction for visitors?

Yes. The following age restrictions apply:

  • General campus visits: Students from Class 6 onwards
  • Lab visits: Only Class 8 and above are permitted for safety reasons

6. What will be covered during the campus visit?

The visit may include:

  • Welcome and orientation session
  • Visit to the Hall of Fame
  • Guided tour of selected academic, research, and innovation facilities
  • Interaction with faculty or student volunteers
  • Exposure to student life, infrastructure, and campus culture

Facilities shown may vary depending on availability and visitor profile.

7. Will we be able to visit laboratories and research facilities?

Yes, selected laboratories and facilities are included in guided tours. However:

  • Lab access is subject to availability and safety protocols
  • Only approved labs will be shown
  • Entry inside labs is strictly guided and time-bound

8. Are visits free of cost?

  • Yes, Free of cost

9. How many people are allowed in one group?

To ensure safety and quality interaction:

  • Each group is limited to a maximum of 50 visitors per slot
  • Larger groups may be split across multiple slots, subject to availability

10. How do we register for a campus visit?

  1. Visit the Visit IIT Hyderabad webpage
  2. Fill in the online registration form
  3. Select a preferred date and time slot
  4. Receive a confirmation email after approval

Institutional visits must upload an official request letter.

11. Will we receive a confirmation after registration?

Yes. Once your request is reviewed and approved, you will receive a confirmation email containing

  • Visit date and time
  • Reporting instructions
  • Entry and security guidelines
  • Contact details of the visit coordinator or student guide

12. Can we visit IIT Hyderabad without a confirmed slot?

No. Entry to campus for visits is permitted only with a confirmed registration and approved time slot.

13. Is photography allowed on campus?

  • Photography is allowed only in designated areas.
  • Photography inside laboratories, classrooms, and certain facilities may be restricted.
  • Visitors must follow instructions provided by guides and coordinators.

14. Are food and refreshments available on campus?

  • Food arrangements can be made only with prior request and paid basis as per charges of mess or canteen
  • Visitors may bring their own food, but it must be consumed only in designated areas
  • Food is strictly prohibited inside labs and classrooms

15. What items are not allowed inside the campus or labs?

For safety and security reasons, the following may be restricted:

  • Large bags and backpacks
  • Cameras in restricted areas
  • Food and water bottles inside labs
  • Electronic gadgets inside laboratories
  • Hazardous or sharp objects

16. What should visitors wear during the campus visit?

Visitors are advised to wear:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Closed footwear for lab visits

School groups should follow their institutional dress code.

17. Is parking available for visitors?

Yes. Visitor vehicles may be parked at designated areas near the main gate. Internal movement will be guided using institute transport or designated vehicles.

18. What safety measures are in place for visitors?

  • Trained coordinators and student guides accompany all groups
  • First-aid and medical support is available on campus
  • Emergency procedures are in place for unforeseen situations

Visitors must immediately inform the coordinator in case of any health or safety concern.

19. Can we interact with faculty or researchers during the visit?

Interaction sessions may be arranged subject to availability. For academic or collaboration-focused visits, specific meetings can be requested during registration.
