NEUROiD (Neuro integration and Design) is our lab's flagship platform. It is a multiscale multiphysics platform which we use to model the spinal cord and lower motor system. It includes neuronal biophysics from ion channels through neurons, synapses, neuron networks, Rexed laminae, segments to spinal cord. We are also working on the biomechanics of the spinal cord and a mechano-neural interface.
Using the NEROiD platform our lab investigates the structure and function of neural circuits responsible for movement. We also look to reproduce realistic muscle activation patterns in our models. The hope is that this will lead to development of biomimetic systems
Our endeavour is to recreate control and pathological behaviour in our models. We work with clincians, developing tools for them to plan and understand pathophysiology, thus delivering better clinical outcomes.
