Current research includes understanding the material properties through ab-initio electronic structure calculations within the frame work of Density Functional Theory (DFT). Almost all the properties of a material can ultimately be understood from the underlying electronic structure. Starting from electronic band structure, one can study optical transitions, magnetic properties, vibrational properties, cohesive and elastic properties and many more.
