IITH Starts Minor in Design program for BTech students
IITH has started a minor in design for its undergraduate students. Minor in Design is a course that sensitises students from the engineering disciplines to creative, applicable and aesthetic dimensions of the interaction between technology and people. Spread across four semesters, this course begins with basic exercises in designerly ways of doing and practice and ends with the students engaging in small independent projects. The aim is to inculcate and cultivate the spirit of making amongst the students from core engineering and sciences.

IITH celebrates 10th Anniversary
IIT Hyderabad kicked off its 10th-year celebrations on 19 January.
The event started with the presentation by the director highlighting the achievements by IIT Hyderabad, followed by the presentations by dean academic program and dean research and development.
The highlight of the program was the short speeches by the task force members from IIT Madras, who all had only words of praise for IIT Hyderabad for its achievements in a short span of time.

IITH Organizes 5th Annual Open Day for School Children
NSS IIT Hyderabad organized Fifth Open Day cum one-day workshop for technological awareness among rural children" on Monday, 26th Feb 2018 to encourage and inspire the students towards Science & Technology. Around 350 students from the government schools of nearby villages has participated. Participants visited various labs including physics, chemistry, and design, interacted with several professors and last but not the least, interacted with the technological geeks of IITH, the Sci-tech clubs.

IITH Conducts 24th edition of National Conference on Communication (NCC)
IITH organized the 24th National Conference on Communications (NCC) 2018 from Feb 25 to 28. The NCC is the flagship conference of India in the area of Communications, Signal Processing and Networks. It has been organised every year, starting from the year 1995, by the Joint Telematics Group (JTG) of the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science. A special joint session on 5G Initiatives and Telecom Standardisation in India had also been organised by the Department of Telecom (DoT), and Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI). DoT Special Secretary N Sivasailam addressed a joint session.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant for IITH-CfHE startup
IITH-CfHE Start up Company Nemo Care Received the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant for the smart neonatal monitoring device. The aim of the device is to reduce the increasing load on nurses to physically monitor and provide quality neonatal care for the new borns. The device is an interface between the system that collects the data and the nursing station. The device allows the nurses to centrally monitor multiple babies through single interface.
