The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are autonomous public institututes of higher education, located in India. They are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, which in 2008 listed IIT Hyderabad with eight other sister IITs linking it to the common IIT Council, which oversees the administration of every IIT in India. IIT Hyderabad is on its way to make an indelible mark in education and research. From the very beginning, the institute has embarked on state-of-art research and development, expanding its horizon to accomodate more than 10 disciplines and also promote cross-disciplinary research.
