Characterization of materials is the back-bone for developing new materials, including: metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers, rubbers, composites and all other man-made materials and chemicals, as well as natural materials.Thermal analysis methods are among the important characterization techniques to understand various features, such as accurate determination of temperature for any chemical reaction, nature of reactions such as whether it is exothermic or endothermic, formation reaction, These techniques are widely used by physicist, and materials scientists, etc.from both sectors, academia and industries.
After the successful completion of two workshops TAM-I , TAM-II & TAM-III in July & Aug and the overwhelming response from various faculty members, we are organising third workshops(TAM-IV) in this series.
This workshop has been designed for early career faculty members and researcher scholars to give them, orientations about various thermal characterization techniques, mainly: 1) Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), 2) Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), 3) Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA), and 4) Dilatometer systems. This one week training program will cover basic fundamentals of above techniques and operating principles. Since, IIT Hyderabad has equipped with these state of art facilities; various measurement techniques and applications will be demonstrated using variety of samples. Efforts will be made to explain the methods to analyse and to interpret the as-received data.
